Third Post

Some manipulations of wave files by Cool Edit.

Wrote this after seeing the great Canadian vibraphone
player Warren Chiasson playing in New York.
All sounds are from Pianito.

Second Post

More Pianito stuff.

Trying to sound like Shostakovitch and ending up sounding like an old commercial for Castrol GTX. All the music is Pianito.
Could also have been titled Anthonydavelester. Another imaginary meeting - I don't think these three have ever played together - and the bass sounds nothing like Dave Holland anyway. All Pianito again.
I don't even know if this is a real German word - if it is, it means 'headbanging'. The track is followed by the unaccompanied drum track for your karaoke pleasure. All Pianito.
A bunch of samples - voice playing backwards a couple of times and at different speeds, same power chord used in the E R Murrow track in first post, and some of the drums are from an African field recording - all the rest is Pianito.

First Post

These next few mp3s were realised using 'Aldo's Pianito and Microstudio' - a very easy-to-use piece of music making and recording freeware. My thanks to Aldo, and there is a link at the bottom of the page if you want to download Pianito yourself.
A shoe-gazer theme using only 2 samples - Mr Murrow's voice and the power guitar chord - the rest is all Pianito.

2. Traffic Stopper
How I imagine a jam session involving the members of Traffic with Thelonious Monk might sound. Music - all Pianito.

3. Of the Six
Trying something using 3/4 time for a change. Music -all Pianito.

4. Dumbass President
A couple of samples of interviews with then Governor Bush. Music - all Pianito - the sheep are a sample of Mr Bush's voice played at various speeds. The 'heads should roll' quote is none other than Trent Lott - whose head apparently didn't.

5. Rudolf Sosna 2
A second tribute to Rudolf Sosna the late founding member of Faust - my favourite band - the 1st is the video found elsewhere on this blog. I thought of him for two reasons - the wispy organ sound - actually a distorted wave - reminds me of his work with Tony Conrad on the Outside the Dream Syndicate album - also the drums were a failed attempt to approximate the style of the legendary Werner 'Zappi' Diermaier - the very much still with us drummer of Faust. As usual with these experiments - it didn't quite turn out like I planned - but as the late, great Jake Thackray used to say "see what you think - I quite like it". Music - all Pianito - organ sound is a distorted wave file.

More soon.
Jake
